Full Results - Race 4
Race 4 was held after Race 8 and
started in a Force 1 to 2 under a sunny sky.
Mike Senior and Graham Nelson
started not very far from Richard Estaugh and Simon
Potts and followed them everywhere around the race course. Graham Flynn and
Frank Nickless from
Bartley SC
sailed their own race and battled hard to keep Matt Mee
and Chris Robinson behind them to record their 1st race win of the
Championship which moved them into 5th overall. If Matt and Chris
had managed to finish 1st in the race as the results panned out,
they would have finished 2nd overall in the Championship. Third
place in the race went to Dave Young and Liz Pugh from South Staffs SC with
Luke Shaw and Steve Parker, now with their boat empty of water having
remembered to put on all the hatch covers, finishing fourth. Richard Estaugh and Simon Potts finished for them a disappointing
5th.
The Silver Fleet medals were won
by Andrew McKee and Richard Goddard from Dovestone
SC, who finished 10th in their Series 1 boat with Bob Baldwin and
Spencer Meyer from Warsash SC winning the Bronze Fleet
medals.
Moment of the race:
Master of Ceremonies, Mr Tim Hemsley pulles the spinnaker halyard so hard that he pulled the
knot through the sheave so that when they got to the leeward mark it wouldn’t
come down. They had to have some assistance to get it down and promptly
retired.
