Full Results - Race 6
Race 6 started in a Force 2
under cloudy skies. After one general recall the fleet got away, Dave Young
and Liz Pugh rounded the windward mark with a handsome lead from Neil Platt
and Elaine Turner from Bolton SC second. Third round was Neil's brother Ian
and Matthew Speight again from Bolton SC The
first reach was tight making the 2 nd reach very broad and the wind dropped
off as the race went on. The windward mark was moved at least once and at the
end of a mentally tiring race, Neil and Elaine won from Mike Senior and Graham
Nelson in second, Ian and Matthew third, Dave and Liz fourth and Andy Hateley
and Andy Thompson from South Staffs SC climbing to 5th.
The Silver Fleet medals were won by Paul Owen and Chris Warburton fron
South Staffs with the Bronze Fleet medals being won by Clair and Hil Brunner
from Chelmarsh SC.
Moment of the race:
Michael Whittaker and Marty Beenen from South Staffs SC upon hearing the horn
whilst rounding the leeward mark, signalling a change of windward mark
promptly stopped, hove to and ate their lunch thinking that they had finished!
