Matt Mee and Graham Nelson of Hollingworth Lake SC, retained their North Wales GP14
Championship at Llandudno Sailing Club with two wins and a third place.
Saturday was hot and sunny with a light shifty breeze which eventually settled in to a
force 3 easterly for the second race. Race Officer Paul Moreton had agreed to run a gate
start for the class so that they could have practice at this before the Nationals in two
weeks time. It was in this race where Matt only managed a 12th place!
Sunday saw a change in the weather and the fleet started race three in a heavy downpour
and a light and shifty southerly. The conditions proved testing with the flooding tide
having a bearng on which way to go up the beat. The Gold fleet had a tight tussle with
some very close racing. Local sailors kepy things in the family with Andy McNamara winning
the silver division and daughter Charlie the bronze division.
