Nationals Update
Early February, and a trip to Abersoch, North Wales was planned by members of the championship committee; force eight gales where raging, torrential rain was lashing down and the heavy snowfall of the past few days was rapidly melting, leaving rivers and streams raging torrents of ice cold water flooding many homes in the low lying areas of North Wales. Regardless of all the weather warnings, the intrepid volunteers threw caution to the wind and made the decision to rendezvous at S.C.Y.C., Abersoch for the first of several meetings to plan the finer detail of this year's forthcoming National Championship.
This year's event is going to have many of the features of last years Worlds; one of the minor changes will be to make the first beat of each race shorter, numbers permitting: that should please a few of the masters. The O.D. will be Aubrey Allso; all those who attended last year will be well aware of Aubrey’s outstanding contribution to the success of last year's racing. This year's national championship will have two coarse designs for our O.D. to choose from, variety is the spice of life, or so they say, courses with something for everyone.
Last year the penalty for not tallying was extremely harsh in several competitors' opinions; the matter has been raised at general committee level and after much discussion on this matter a slightly less draconian system will be adopted, study your S.I’s for the full story. The new improved instruction will in no way undermine the importance of the tally system. Last but definately not least, the musicians who so ably entertained us last year have been booked again for Friday night's prize-giving bash. "Rock until you drop!" is the message from the Bumwigs.
